A domain means a domain of event organising. This isn’t the only way to organise, but it’s a helpful unit to estimate the size and shape of an event. Domains can also be taken to mean distinct groups of roles and areas of responsibility.
For example, Prisma has so far been practicing organising using 4 domains, nominated as a minimum viable set of domains required for an event to be whole:
- Potential
- Enrolment
- Enaction
- Evaluation
These four can be extended into 6 by giving enrolment and potential a second half:
- Enrolment and Placement
- Potential and Grounding
See more here. These domains, however, are just an example. We encourage facilitator teams to consider identifying and practicing their own perspectives into event organising for themselves. In the meantime, a range of 1-6 is been used for the domains in the pricing model as this framework is what we will continue to develop upon internally for the foreseeable, and because there are intricate connections already in place between the domains of this framework and the infrastructure we can provide.
More terms necessarily implies a more complex organising and publishing stack, requiring additional capacity allocation. Therefore, a higher number of domains also necessarily requires a higher budget for the same scale of event.
